God damn it, you’ve got to be kind

I feel like a terrible Indianapolis librarian when I admit I had never read any Kurt Vonnegut until a few years ago and the sole book I finished was Cat’s Cradle. But lately I’ve been getting signals from the universe I should be reading more. The AV Club recently posted 15 things they deemed Vonnegut wrote better than anyone else. Coincidentally, one of the ones they included was a special quote that a dear person sent me recently that hit really close to home.

Many people need desperately to receive this message: ‘I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.
– from Timequake

I guess it’s time to expand my Vonnegut library.
