Man, I stayed up way too late last night putting together a mixed CD for someone. Who does that anymore, right?

I had forgotten how much I love the art of the mixed CD. From picking the perfect song to open it up (This one happens to be “You Remind Me of Home” by Ben Gibbard) to building up to crazy tunes and finding a nice calm decline afterward. A favorite ender of mine is “Watching the Sun Come Up” by Ed Harcourt.

I realize after I’ve put it together that each mixed CD usually tells a story. This one is a little more fractured than most, but there’s definitely a theme to it.

I had already decided the next year is going to be about sending people legitimate birthday cards instead of emails and texts wishing them a good one. Maybe I’ll also add making them mixed CDs because I forgot how much I enjoyed this.
