Title: Ribsy
Beverly Cleary
Ages: Ages 9-12

Ribsy is the dog every kid wants: smart, fun and lovable. Every kid who comes in contact with him wants to take him home and love him. But Ribsy only has eyes for Henry. And when he accidentally gets loose without his tags, he spends the next month and a half trying to return home to his family. But Ribsy cannot seem to keep himself out of trouble along the way – including making it on the front of the sports page in the newspaper when he decides to play some football.

I decided that 2010 was the year I was finally going to read all Beverly Cleary books. I never read them as a kid  and I’m not sure how that happened. Cleary does a fine job of capturing typical childhood moments and making it so every kid can relate. Even as an adult, I can remember feeling the same way as her characters. There’s a reason her books have remained classics.
